A watermark is a recognizable image or pattern in paper that appears as various shades of lightness/darkness when viewed by transmitted light, caused by thickness or density variations in the paper. Watermarks are often used as security features of banknotes, passports, postage stamps, and other documents like cheques, payorders etc. to prevent counterfeiting.
There are two main ways of producing watermarks in paper; the dandy roll process which has limitations in producing minimum amount of quantities to keep it cost effective while the other is more convenient and time effective process. We produce watermarks locally using the latter technique with imported pigments.
